Being #6

Way up on tiptoe we have the widest view,

highest energy. Every direction from here

is a fall, a loss, that limbs and backbone strive

to lessen. Skeleton's made to stretch and twist,

its best when narrow at the feet, mobile in the hips,

broad between the shoulders, with hands and head

as free as they can be to turn and face.

Bones transmit the ground's full force

up, give support to every part,

letting eyes and ears remain alert,

absorbed in that waking waiting state

where being is organised in readiness,

so when we do decide to run or fight

we bear down, potent, with a head start.
